I received this book from a Goodreads book giveaway. ‘May you always have a book to read, and a story to hold in your heart’. I think this picture book is very successful to hold in many readers. The story is very interesting and gives an important message; recognizing and respecting our diversity! People are all different on the outside but we look very much the same on the inside. I love the diverse cast of children in the story to explain how different they look and do not believe they all look the same on the inside.

The colorful illustrations really enhance the fun of the story. It would be great if there is bigger picture of each organs on the book so children can see it clearly.

People of every age will love this book. A good read aloud for younger children.

The One Eyed Pug by Deborah Hunt is the story of a cute little puppy who had to be separated from her dog family, the different homes she had to live in, the new friends she had to make, and how her life changed with every new home. How will the little pug puppy cope with all the changes she has to face, and the pain of leaving her mother and siblings behind? Will she ever find a permanent home or will she forever be bounced from one human family to the next?

The story made me think of kids in the foster care system who are often bounced from one home to the next, never knowing how long they will stay with the new family. The story addresses several social issues that these kids have to deal with, including such things like moving from one home to the next, getting used to new families, adapting to new surroundings, making new friends etc., and the unsettling suspense in which they live their lives, always yearning for a permanent home.

The One Eyed Pug by Deborah Hunt is an easy and fun read with lots of lessons for kids about pets, including how to take care of them and love them so they can feel like they are really part of the family. The story perfectly captures the little pug puppy’s emotions as she is moved from one home to the next, always anxiously wishing for the day she will finally have a permanent home. The drawings in the book are simple, but they add so much to the narration, bringing even more charm to an already vivid story.

What do you look like beneath your skin? Why do we have bones? Does everyone have the same organs? The same bones? Same Inside, Different Outside by Deborah Hunt is a charming illustrated children’s book about how the human body works. Emma loves her kindergarten class. Her teacher, Mr. Gould, always has something interesting planned. Today, Mr. Gould has an important announcement. The class is going to meet a life-sized skeleton, Mr. Bones! Everyone is excited; all except Emma. Emma is secretly afraid of skeletons. When scientist Dr. Shaw brings in Mr. Bones, Emma can hardly look at him. As Dr. Shaw explains the human body, the class learns that although people may look very different on the outside, they look the same on the inside. After the kind Dr. Shaw finishes her lesson, she brings an unusual looking machine into the classroom. It is a body scanning machine that shows the kids what they look like without skin and organs. Each of the class will get their turn seeing what they look like as just bones. Will Emma be able to set aside her fear of skeletons and step into the machine?

Same Inside, Different Outside by Deborah Hunt is a cute educational story about the human body. Emma is reluctant to learn about the human body because she is afraid of skeletons. After learning about how skeletons work, why our bones are important, and what our insides look like, can Emma face her fears? I found the book to be both entertaining and educational. I love how it shows that although we may look different on the outside, we are still part of the same family. The story was well-written and the illustrations light and fun. The characters in the story were engaging, and I enjoyed watching Emma face her fears. Its message was more than just about science; it was about acceptance and courage. I would recommend this book for children ages four to six.
